I’d like to talk about the topic of control in the market. It may not be something that you think about often, but it has a huge affect on your trading.
Firstly, let me say that as traders, we have no control over the market. None. Zip. However, in a sense, we do try to control it. How do we do this? I think it shows up as hope.
When you’re staring at a candle or a chart and hoping it’s going to change or do what you want it to do, this is a subtle form of trying to control it. That may sound crazy, but that’s exactly what we do.
Does it work? No, of course not.
On the other hand, there is something that we DO have control over. That is ourselves.
This includes:
- Whether or not we have a trading plan.
- Whether or not we are crystal clear on our trading strategy.
- If we have spent ample time practicing and perfecting it.
- If we have gotten control of our emotions.
So, in actuality, we have 100% control of ourselves and 0% control over the market. It is amazing how often we reverse this scenario and try to control the market with no success.
Think about how this shows up with you’re trading. It’s an invitation to look at yourself, your plan, how much control you’re exerting where you actually HAVE control. And, where you go out of control.
If this continues to challenge you, message me. I can help.
